Almost every region around the world has some type of toy in their history that involves catching one object strung to another. Kendama may be one of the most modern examples, but it is far from the only game of its type. Most are still made and played to this day but don't spread far from their location of origine. We wanted to explore these Traditional Toys, make our own versions, and help share them further with the world.Ā
For our first batch we have our takes on a Ball & Cup, Balero, & EmboqueĀ
BALERO
This iconic game can be seen across South America but is predominantly known to be a Mexican toy. The barrel can be swung, flipped, or yanked to land back on the spike. Traditionally Baleros are painted bright colors and can often be found as a fun souvenir. In the 1950s an American company made and popularized their own version of the Balero called the Bob-A-Loop and it was featured on children's television shows and even had a song!
